In the 1920s and 1930s, a major artistic and cultural movement called the Harlem Renaissance was borne out of the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. During this time, African American artsts, writers, musicians, and thinkers found inspiration and expression in their own unique experience. In the worksheet Ideas of the Harlem Renaissance, children learn what this cultural movement was about, and are introduced to some famous artists who emerged at the time. They then capture the main idea of what they have read in a graphic organizer.
