Introduce young historians to the three regions of the American Colonies in the 1700s: New England, the Middle Colonies, and the Southern Colonies! Designed for middle school learners, American Colonies: Characteristics of the Three Regions asks students to read an annotated map defining the boundaries and characteristics of the three colonial regions. Students will then read several statements that each describe a region, and they'll need to use what they've learned to identify which colonial region is being described. Finally, students will be given an opportunity to extend their learning with a creative writing prompt about life in the colonies.
